The most important decision you will make in the process of building your Dream Dental Office is selecting Your Dream Team. Your Dream Team will usually start with your dental dealer. The first people you want to get involved in your project are your dealer’s Territory Representative and Equipment Specialist.

Your Territory Representative

Your Territory Rep should be your trusted adviser and one of the people who knows your office best. Their part in building your Dream Office is to be your advocate in all things. They are your safe place and the person you can voice any concerns to. Since you have a close relationship with your territory rep, you can trust them to have your best interests at heart. They will also help the rest of Your Dream Team understand what your office is about so we can better capture your vision.

Your Equipment specialist

Your Equipment Specialist (that’s me) will become your project manager. I will walk with you during every step of your new office journey. Our job is to help you create the dental office of your dreams and make sure your new space doesn’t just turn into a building with dental equipment in it. I will help you from day one. We will design your floor plan together considering, office workflow, operatory layout, and your vision. Once the project starts we will lay out the entire project in full detail with your contractor and sub contractors. One of the biggest parts of my job is making sure that everything you need is in the right spot for you to enjoy a properly functioning and ergonomic dental practice. We are the interface between the dental world and the construction world. Each world has it’s own language and I am fluent in both.

Your Contractor

Your Contractor is an extremely important decision for obvious reasons. They will be making sure that your building follows the plans you and your Equipment Specialist created. They will make sure that all of the subcontractors are preforming their work properly and they will manage and enforce your construction schedule. Trust is paramount when choosing your contractor. A great contractor will do their best to make sure you stay on schedule and on budget.

Your Banker

Your Banker will make sure you have the funds to make your dream come true. They will also make sure everyone receives funds when they are needed so your project can stay on track. A good dental focused banker can be an amazing resource to help you make sure you are not biting off more than you can chew. Their understanding of the economics of a dental office will be invaluable to you when you start making payments on your new Dream Dental Office.

Your Commercial Real Estate Agent

Your commercial real estate agent will be an amazing resource in selecting your new space. Weather you want to lease or buy, they have the local market knowledge to help you find your new dream space. They will also help you negotiate your new space and make sure you fully understand the lease or purchase agreement before you make a commitment.

Your Designer

Your designer is a critical part of your team. A professional designer will ensure that your office is HGTV ready in case the cameras show up. Whether you decide to hire a professional designer or not, you will have a designer on your team, but it may be your husband or wife. When you step into an office that has been professionally designed you can tell a difference over the office that was designed by a family member.

Your Architect

Depending on the vision you have for your Dream office you may or may not select a dental architect. If you want to be the premier office in your city then you may decide to hire a dental architect. You will have an architect on your project no matter what but it is up to you weather all they do is stamp and prepare your plans for permits or design you the new Taj Mahal from the ground up.

Your Lead Technician

Many people may forget to add this person to their Dream Team but they are one of the most important people on the team. When construction is nearing completion they will be the person in charge of the installation of all of your dental equipment. This process may take days or weeks depending on the size of your Dream Office. You will be interacting with your lead tech regularly during this time. They need to be someone that you feel comfortable interacting with to insure your equipment is functioning just how you want on day one.
